Consultant profile

Since 1998, Dr Wong May Foong has been practicing as a fully qualified paediatrician in the private health care in the Klang Valley.

She did her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in the University of New South Wales from 1986 to 1991 and was attached at Concord Hospital in Sydney for one and a half years as an intern and first year officer. She then returned to Kuala Lumpur in 1992 and started her attachment in the paediatric department in University Hospital in Petaling Jaya. From the years 1993 to 1997 she completed her Masters in Paediatrics while continuing in the same hospital.

Her first private practice was as a visiting consultant in Tung Shin Hospital and Chinese Maternity Hospital in Jln Pudu, Kuala Lumpur in 1998.At the same time she was under the mentor ship of a very senior and well respected private paediatician Dr Chin Yoon Hiap at his paediatric clinic in Jln Pudu. She was occasionally helping him also in Pantai Medical Centre in his private out patient suite.

When the opportunity arose in 2002, Dr Wong started a private ambulatory practice in Bandar Puchong Jaya. It was a modest set up to provide general paediatric care to the young families around the Puchong area. The practice has now expanded to include other physicians who provide professional specialist care to the adult community. With the operations now from a new premise, the modern facility would hope to cater better to the needs of the community.

Dr Wong’s paediatric patients range from birth to the age of 17.  Her special interests are in breast feeding, allergies, and asthma. As with all general paediatricians she diagnoses and treats common problems faced by the children as they grow as well as to promote good health in prevention of diseases through education and vaccination.

She is registered with the Malaysian Paediatric Association and the Specialist Registry of Malaysia.
